The Top Best Electric Cars 2024

Volkswagen ID Buzz:

The Buzz is also infinitely versatile, with its 1211-litre boot readily accommodating five adults and their belongings. For reference, the Buzz can accommodate 16 carry-on cases, eight more than the BMW iX.

Volkswagen ID Buzz:

The Volkswagen ID Buzz is an excellent all-around electric vehicle, combining the utility of an MPV with the comfort and refinement of a premium SUV.

The ID Buzz, with its classic VW camper-inspired design, exudes retro charm and is a pleasure to drive, providing both comfort and accurate handling. Its 260-mile range is also outstanding, allowing for a combination of city and highway driving.

Tesla Model 3:

Tesla's family electric saloon is, simply said, one of the best electric vehicles available today. Better yet, the Model 3 recently had a mid-life makeover, which included a revamped front end, updated interior layout, and a slimmed-down model lineup.

The dual-motor Long Range remains the standout of the lineup, now giving up to 421 miles of range for just under £50,000.

Genesis GV60:

While you may not be familiar with the Genesis brand, you will soon add it to your shortlist if you want a good-looking, fast, and high-end electric SUV.

Genesis is part of the same company as Kia and Hyundai, and the GV60 is based on the same electric platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV 6. What may surprise you is that the GV60 feels more expensive and posher than both on the interior, with most surfaces covered in high-quality materials and metals. The infotainment system is also quite straightforward.

BMW iX3:

While its bulky appearance divides opinion, the BMW iX3 is a stylish electric SUV that is more enjoyable to drive than many of its competitors. It handles better than the Jaguar I-Pace while yet providing a comfortable and quiet ride.   With an official range of 285 miles, it can go further than the Audi Q8 e-tron and Mercedes EQC. In the real world, however, the range is expected to be approximately 250 miles.

Kia EV6:

The Korean brand's electric SUV is more pleasurable to drive and more refined inside than the mechanically comparable Hyundai Ioniq 5. It can also travel further on a single charge, with the RWD single-motor form reaching up to 328 miles. The EV6, like the Ioniq 5, can be charged at up to 238kW, which means it will take about 20 minutes to stop for a 10-80% charge - assuming you can find a charger with that capacity.

Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo:

If you want a high-performance electric car that can easily transport your family pet, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is the model to choose. The range-topping Turbo variant produces up to 751bhp, good for a 0-62mph pace of just 2.8 seconds. If power isn't your first goal, the entry-level 322bhp model is a viable option.  The Taycan's low center of gravity and outstanding handling make it feel nimble and taut around turns, with excellent traction. Only the nearly identical Audi E-tron GT can compete for excitement.

Hyundai Ioniq 5:

The Hyundai Ioniq 5's appeal extends beyond its practical and attractive package, thanks to its larger proportions and elegant appearance. According to official numbers, entry-level models can drive up to 238 miles between charges, while higher-trim ones may travel up to 285 miles on a single charge.  If range is a major concern, the Ioniq 5 with rear-wheel drive has a 315-mile range. Charging is another great element because the Ioniq 5 has a brilliant peak charging rate of 238kW, allowing for a 10-80% top-up in as little as 20.

Skoda Enyaq iV:

Is the Skoda Enyaq the greatest electric SUV available? It's practical, well-equipped, and enjoyable to drive. Even the entry-level vehicles come with dual-zone climate control, 19-inch alloy wheels, and cruise control, so the comforts are not limited to the top-tier models.

What makes the Enyaq so enticing is the value it provides. The '60' version is priced comparable to smaller electric vehicles, such as the Kia Niro EV. Even in this trim, you won't be disappointed with the 60's range, which can reach 246 miles on a single charge.

BMW i4:

The BMW i4 excels in all aspects, including range, comfort, and refinement. It also cleverly balances performance and efficiency, with the e Drive 40 capable of going up to 365 miles on a single charge and sprinting from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds. In our summer real range test, the i4 travelled further on a single charge, covering 316 miles and outperforming both the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

MG 4:

The MG 4 EV is a terrific electric hatchback that is easier to drive and live with than its more expensive competitors, providing outstanding value for money.  The entry-level SE grade is the most affordable in the lineup, but it's packed with helpful features like adaptive cruise control and rear parking sensors.
